Trump doubles down on JFK assassination smear of Ted Cruz’s father as he travels to campaign in Texas

s President Donald Trump departed for Houston to campaign for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), the commander-in-chief doubled down on his 2016 attack line that the senator’s father may have been involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
“Do you regret implying that Ted Cruz’s dad killed JFK?” Trump was asked.
“I don’t regret anything, honestly,” Trump replied.
“It all worked out very nicely,” he added.
During the 2016 campaign, Trump famously branded the Texas conservative with the nickname “Lyin’ Ted” — which has been seized upon by Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), who is challenging Cruz in the midterm election.
Trump had promised to campaign for Cruz in the “biggest stadium” in Texas, but will instead by campaigning inside an arena one-fifth the size.
