Journalist nearly crashes on Bird scooter ahead of interview with company’s CEO

Julie Boorstin almost crashed her Bird scooter

Point made?
The CEO of Bird — the buzzy scooter rental company that’s faced questions about safety — was interviewed at the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit by CNBC’s Julia Boorstin.
But we’re told the talk got off to a vividly demonstrative start when the exec, Travis VanderZanden, and Boorstin rode the scooters onto the stage — and Boorstin nearly crashed into a chair.
Said a source: “She pulled up to her chair and tried to stop and started to fall. She managed to right herself without going down.”
They added, “Whoever thought it was a good idea having her go onstage on a scooter in 4-inch heels should be strung up.”
Reps didn’t get back to us.
